The Severn Road Club was founded in 1932. The current membership is drawn
largely from the northern part of Bristol and South Gloucestershire but we
welcome members from all over the south west and beyond. The club is affiliated
to the following cycling bodies:
The club promotes a number of events each year in time trial, road racing, track, and cyclo-cross disciplines. A popular promotion is our summer evening 10 series running from April to August each year. This is a good opportunity for anyone interested in having a go at racing for the first time, or for those who just want to see what its all about. There are many benefits with being a member of "The Severn", as it is affectionately known, including organised training rides through the winter months and riding as part of a team in races. In fact, The Severn won team gold in the West DC 10 mile championships in 2001 and were winning team in the 2003 WTTA Hardrider Series. We have a membership covering all ages and social groups and everyone is welcome. Each year a number of trophies are awarded for racing performances throughout the season ranging in category from Juvenile (under 16) to Vets (over 40's). There are also specific trophies for the ladies to aim for without the men getting in the way. One of the most rewarding trophies is the meritorious service cup awarded to the person nominated to the committee for their good deeds in the name of the club. For a full and detailed list of the trophies up for grabs each year visit the trophy page. Whatever happens, the "I spent too much time on the club website and didn't get the training in" will not be excepted as a valid excuse for coming in an hour down on the winner!!! Enjoy. |
