“DROVERS’ CHALLENGE” WEEKEND 25-26 April 2020
Pace / Equipment
Overnight bags are sent up separately so it will be possible to complete the weekend with lightweight kit. In previous years there were enough people to form groups so that riders with a very wide range of fitness and ability have been able to enjoy the weekend. On the Saturday we have a choice, ‘easy rider’ routes which, taken at a gentle pace, are within the capabilities of most club members, and the ‘mile-eater’ route which is quite challenging, especially for those electing to ride at tempo. On the Sunday we all have an easy ride home.
Overnight accommodation (£35.00)
Accommodation at Drovers’ Rest – our host is Peter James. Address: Dolecoed Road, Llanwrtyd Wells, Powys LD5 4RA. First to book will be at the Drovers’, others at overflow B&Bs a short walking distance away. All go to Drovers’ first to have a cuppa and cake, collect bags and get directions.
Evening meal (£22.00)
All get together for an evening meal at the Drovers’ at 7.30 pm. It has been known for some to take the local beer as an apéritif beforehand at the Neuadd Arms across the square.

While most find one of these routes suitable, some may want something easier. (Nobody has asked for something harder than the mile-eater!) So, for example, if you want to drive out and do a circular route from the Drivers’ rest that’s fine. We can advise on possible routes.
